The Victorian Building Authority (VBA) collects information from building surveyors on the number, value and type of building permits issued each month. The Building Permit Activity Data provides information relating to each building permit issued in the Victoria and reported to the VBA for the period of 1 January 2016 to end of December 2016. Our planning experts have geo-located the permit information on an interactive map.

The map is interactive, you may zoom in or out and click on individual dots to view record details.

Each record includes:

  • Limited details of what was built (or demolished) including indicated floor area is square metres (if available)
  • Limited details of address (street level without the details of property number)
  • How much it cost (contract value stated)
  • When the building permit was issued

The data is organised and colour-coded by value of contract/build. Meaning of different marker colours:

Green Dot Legend

Green marker dot indicates a building permit issued with total contract value under $500,000.00 (example above)

Yellow Dot Legend

Yellow dot indicates total contract value between $500,000.00 and $1 Million.

Pink Dot Legend

Pink dot indicated a value of $1M to $1.5M

Purple Dot Legend Purple dot indicates value of $1.5M and above.
